Carex polycephala have been treated as a confuse spcies. They described this species and proposed the Lectotype specimen.
Carex polycephalaは、ヒマラヤ西部の固有種であり、分類が難しい種として扱われてきた（フサスゲ節の仲間）。種の実体を知るための第一歩としてレクトタイプ指定をした。
