カヤツリグサ属は分類も難しいですが、近縁属も含めるとC3植物とC4植物の種が混在しています。
系統樹で比較すると、C4植物の種はまとまるのですが、C3植物の種はまとまらなかったため、とくにC3植物の種をさらに解析し、近縁属との分類の再検討を試みた研究。
