Rhynchospora tenuisは、被子植物の中で最も少ない染色体数（2n = 4）を持ち、ハプロタイプには染色体の大きさと非対称性がある。
また、減数分裂で組換えのきっかけとなる交叉遺伝子（SHOC1）がDNAメチル化などの修飾により抑制される。
このため、減数分裂で両親のゲノムの組み合わせが組換えされることなく、次世代に染色体を分配・維持できる、とんでもねえ話。まさにNature級。
